Benefits for teachers

Keep teaching even in troubled times

The time you used to spend on transportation can now be dedicated to preparing your lessons. With live online teaching, you can expand the range of your potential audience. A diversity of students will bring a new perspective to your working experience and will increase your income.

Benefits for students

Learn your favorite subject from home

No more rushing to school at the last minute. No more excuses for showing up late. You can play your instrument wearing pyjamas. You can choose the most inspiring teacher, even if they don’t live in your neighbourhood.

How to get the most out of your
live online lessons?

Matchspace does not impose any restrictions on the choice of the application. Students and teachers will choose the app that suits them best.

The basic equipment you will need – smartphone/notebook/tablet, a pair of headphones with a microphone and a decent internet connection. For better quality lessons, we recommend the following:
  • Camera
Built-in video cameras of modern notebooks or tablets with 1080P resolution usually provide adequate quality. However, an external webcam gives you more flexibility to adjust angle or lighting. A few sources that may help you find a suitable webcam are listed here for your convenience:

  • Combined microphones and speakers for video conferences (e.g. Jabra Speak or Trust) are convenient alternatives. These do not provide the same quality as microphones dedicated to podcasts or home studios but will give you decent quality and more freedom since you don’t have to wear a separate headset.
  • Find a comfortable and quiet setting
  • Turn off any distractions (TV, smartphone notifications, etc.)
  • Prepare everything you need for your class in advance – notebook, webcam, speaker, water, refreshment
  • Politely ask your roommates or family members not to disturb you during the class
  • Check your Wi-Fi/camera/sound in advance. Make sure you place your webcam and speaker on a stable base. That way you’ll have more time in class to do what you love most – play/teach.

As per Matchspace’s cancellation policy, students will be fully refunded if the teacher cancels the lessons. However, both students and teachers are required to cancel or reschedule the lesson at least 24 hours in advance.
